It’s not difficult to find a good isekai anime nowadays but how about an isekai anime with a nonhuman MC?
Each season, there are lots of new ones to pick from and myriads of new isekai lists are created on daily basis. Ironically, it’s become challenging to find an isekai that’s unknown.
I have seen people asking about isekai/reincarnation manga with a nonhuman MC and there are way more options there. Unfortunately, not that many isekai anime shows have a nonhuman MC. This is why I also had to include reverse isekai anime protagonists and protagonists who are hybrids, meaning that they are half-human.
With that being said, this isekai list contains only protagonists who are not human.

10. Reincarnated as a Sword
The freshest addition to this list is a November 2022 anime, Reincarnated as a Sword.

9. Skeleton Knight in Another World
Skeleton Knight in Another World is pretty self-explanatory. A gamer wakes up in a fantasy world in the body of his game avatar, which has a skeleton skin applied. Since he wants to explore this new land, he does his best to conceal his frightening looks as well as he can.
8. World of Leadale
Keina Kagami is a young girl fully dependent on life support because of the terrible state of her body.
One day, a power outage happens, and she dies in her sleep without knowing that. But instead of perishing, she wakes up in a world that is strikingly similar to the one from the VR game she used to play.
First of all, the MC is a girl, which is nowadays rare as opposed to the past. You might like that if you are bored with the usual male protagonist-dominated isekai world. When she wakes up, she realizes that she is not a human but a high elf.

7. The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!
Jahy-sama is not your usual OP MC. She is the opposite of that now that she found herself in the human world, in the body of a little girl. But she is not just an ordinary little girl, Jahy is a demon.
Mind you, she was the second-in-command in the Dark Realm before. Unfortunately, a magical girl destroyed the Dark Realm and now it’s up to her to restore it. But not before she scrapes enough to at least get by.
6. So I’m a Spider, So What?
I have talked about this series in my lesser-known isekai anime. It’s a really original take on isekai.
The MC is not reincarnated as a hero with OP powers. She is the (only) unfortunate one who is reincarnated as a spider. To top it off, she is trapped in a dungeon with scary monsters. To survive despite all odds, she has to rely on her newly-acquired skills and her previous knowledge.
5. Arifureta
Arifureta starts with the whole class being transported to a fantasy world and tasked with saving humankind. Unfortunately, the MC Hajime is the only weak one.
During one of their expeditions, he gets betrayed by a classmate who throws him into a deep abyss on purpose to get rid of him.
Fortunately, Hajime not only survives the fall but also becomes OP after eating monster meat. He becomes a human-monster hybrid who is now a badass with a quickly-acquired harem!
Arifutera is probably not what you would imagine if I told you that it’s also an isekai anime with a nonhuman MC. But since Hajime does become a mutant, he fits into this category as well.
4. Log Horizon
Log Horizon is a similar anime to the more popular Sword Art Online minus the “you die IRL if you die in-game” part.
Players are stuck in an RPG-like game, they form guilds, friendships, slay monsters, yadda yadda.
The MC, Shiroe, is a Half-Alv, which means that he is the offspring between alvs and humans. Since Half-Alves look very similar to humans, to confirm his race you would have to take a look at his tongue. This is due to All Half-Alves having the Alv emblem on their tongues.
3. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
An average 37-year-old corporate worker dies after being stabbed to death by a passing robber and reincarnates as a genderless slime in a fantasy world.
Instead of giving the MC some random harem right off the bat for no reason, the show focuses on world-building and the MC’s adventures as he is trying to find a place in the new world.
2. The Devil Is A Part-timer!
The Devil Is A Part-Timer! is a reverse isekai that was created before it was cool.
The MC is Satan. He somehow ends up transported to modern-day Tokyo where he starts a part-time job in a fast-food restaurant.
It’s a fun and light anime to watch.
1. Overlord
One of the most popular isekai anime with a nonhuman MC is no other than Overlord. It’s an anime that’s accommodating a ‘stuck in the game’ trope. The MC was an avid gamer before he ended up trapped forever in his favorite MMORPG game. His avatar is a skeleton, and it’s probably one of the first isekai that decided to use a non-human MC.
While there are no other players, the NPCs developed personalities on their own, and he is powerful enough to conquer this new world.
It’s no wonder that he doesn’t want to come back to reality!
