10 Anime Like Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja

Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja (The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest) is a Japanese isekai light novel series written by Shinkoshoto and illustrated by Huuka Kazabana.

An anime TV series adaptation by J.C.Staff premiered in January 2022.

In this series, the world’s strongest sage will stop at nothing to get stronger—not even reincarnation!

And as you can imagine, it’s a predictable yet enjoyable isekai filled with the usual isekai tropes.

Here are 10 Anime Like Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja!

10. One Punch Man

One Punch Man is literally about the titular: a guy who defeats everyone with only one punch. ALWAYS, with no exceptions.

If you enjoy seeing an OP protagonist who defeats literally everyone, this is a perfect match. Also, everyone is always underestimating him until they see his power firsthand. A perfect blend of action and comedy.

9. The 8th son? Are you kidding me?

A young salaryman wakes up in a magical fantasy world as Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eighth son of the noble Baumeister family.

Since he is unlikely to inherit anything from his father, he strives to change his financial and social status for the better. After discovering that he has a high affinity for magic, his goal might be within his reach!

This series is also an isekai series with an OP protagonist who has a great magical aptitude. He is also accompanied by beautiful girls because a little harem can’t hurt anybody, right?

8. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

An old man who is known as the world’s greatest assassin dies and is reincarnated in a world of swords and magic where his skill set is needed to prevent the destruction of the world.

In both anime series, the main character gets reborn in a fantasy world. He ends up being OP mainly thanks to his previous life’s experiences and acquires a small harem on his way to achieving his goals.

7. Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Ichirou Suzuki is a programmer nearing his thirties who one day after falling asleep wakes up trapped in a fantasy world that is a combination of the MMORPG games he was debugging previously in real life. Except for the change of his name, which becomes Satou, he is also having an appearance of his younger, 15-year-old self.

Without having time to think of what happened, Satou gets attacked by an army of lizardmen, forcing him to instinctively use his ability. To his surprise, he wipes them completely and his level is boosted to 310, maximizing his stats. Now, with no way to return to reality and overpowered stats, Satou embarks on a journey to explore this new magical world.

Both Shikkakumon and Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody are lighthearted isekai with a Japanese guy who gets transported to another world with knowledge from the previous world. Not only is he op, but he is also the center of attention for all sorts of beautiful ladies!

6. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Source: Official Art

An average 37-year-old corporate worker dies after being stabbed to death by a passing robber and reincarnates as a genderless slime in a fantasy world.

Both main characters of these shows end up in another fantasy world and use the knowledge they gained in their previous life to their advantage in this new setting.

5. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

Is it even possible to recommend an isekai with an OP protagonist without mentioning How Not to Summon a Demon Lord?

Takuma Sakamoto is a shut-in gamer who is unmatched in an MMORPG game called Cross Reverie, having a gaming identity of the Demon King Diablo.

One day, he ends up summoned to a fantasy world with the appearance of the Demon King from Cross Reverie. The two beautiful ladies who summoned him then try to perform an Enslavement Ritual. This, however, backfires and the two become his slaves instead. After getting to know them a little, he decides to accompany them on a journey to unbind the slave contract.

The protagonist is handsome, OP, and has 2 girls as the “main harem”. People who dare to challenge him always end up pwned on the spot.

4. The Irregular at Magic High School

The Irregular at Magic High School is an anime with a close resemblance to Shikkakumon with its irregular OP protagonist who is mistakenly identified as a wimp.

Both anime take place at a high school for magicians with a protagonist who has overwhelming magical power. However, his techniques are different from the mainstream ones, making others underestimate him. This then results in him amazing everyone with his true powers.

3. Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles

Amakawa Haruto is a young man who dies in a traffic accident before reuniting with his childhood friend who disappeared five years ago. After that, his personality and memories are resurrected in the body of Rio, a poor orphan who lives in another world. Right after they merge together, Rio awakens an unknown “special power,” and it seems that if he uses it well, he can live a better life.

Spirit Chronicles is another isekai series similar to Wise Man’s Grandchild and Shikkakumon.

The protagonist ends up in a fantasy world, is looked down upon until they find out that he is, in fact, OP, and he also builds a harem. Not to forget that both shows start with him enrolling at a magic academy and defeating some cocky dude with no effort!

2. Wise Man’s Grandchild

A recently deceased young man is sent to another world and is taught magic by master Merlin. He quickly masters everything he is taught. However, he has one fatal weakness, common sense.

Both series utilize the same cliché isekai tropes: they take place in a school setting and have an overpowered protagonist who lacks common sense showing off his powers throughout the series.

1. The Misfit of Demon King Academy

I have a feeling that these two anime series are almost identical.

Not only do both guys decide to reincarnate later in the future, but their kind has become weak and of course, the main character is tremendously overpowered compared to literally everyone in the series.

The basis of these shows is the same: the protagonist enrolls at a magic high school and everyone underestimates them until they get pwned. He is also surrounded by a harem (mainly 2 girls, both cute), and they rely/cheer on him.

The series tells the story of Anos, the Demon King of Tyranny, who has defeated humans, elementals, spirits, gods, and fought countless wars. Tired of all the fighting, he decides to reincarnate, hoping to see a more peaceful world.

2000 years later he gets reincarnated only to find out that the world has become too peaceful and his descendants have grown really weak.
