An anime TV series by Silver Link aired in 2020.
It follows the story of Anos, the Demon King of Tyranny, who has defeated humans, elementals, spirits, gods, and fought countless wars. Tired of all the fighting, he decides to reincarnate, hoping to see a more peaceful world.
2000 years later he gets reincarnated only to find out that the world has become too peaceful and his descendants have grown really weak.

Melida Angel is a young aristocrat lady born in a world where a lot depends on the power only aristocrats possess—mana. Despite this, Melida doesn’t seem to have any mana at her disposal and hence is assigned a tutor named Kufa who is supposed to teach her how to improve her skills and gain mana.
As per the request, Kufa’s task is not only to tutor his student but also to evaluate if she really is talentless—and if she really is, he needs to assassinate her.

If you enjoy extremely overpowered and cool main characters with similar looks and cold/ badass attitudes, you hit the nail! The main characters in both series are greatly underestimated by their opponents, only to end up destroyed and ridiculed by their overwhelming power.
Both of these anime also take place at magic school where students are divided by a flawed system and wear different uniforms based on their power.
Synopsis
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei follows the siblings, Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, who are enrolled in First High School. Upon taking the exam, the prodigious Miyuki is placed in the First Course, while Tatsuya is relegated to the Second Course. But we know that the main character of misfit of the demon king academy is too overpowered who can destroy whole world in a blink of an eye and he is too badass
But in highschool DxD main character start with weak powers and he is not badass or overpowered
We can’t say that they are even on basis of magic

I highly recommend Wise Man’s Grandchild! It’s one of the best magic anime there is, for my opinion.
