Top 10 Strongest Female Anime Characters

Who crosses your mind when you think of the strongest female anime characters? It’s truly difficult to decide which one is the strongest.

For me, one of the best things about powerful females in anime is that they are almost always beautiful outside and also inside, making it truly hard to not fanboy over them, let alone choose the best powerful waifu.

There are so many strong female characters in anime that I had a very hard time picking the strongest ones. Plus I certainly haven’t seen all anime, making it even harder to judge!

But to my knowledge, the characters below are certainly overpowered. All of these anime ladies are extra strong, capable, attractive, independent, and unique.

Now, without further delay, this is the top 10 list of the strongest females in anime (according to me).

10. Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

Age: Teen (15-19)

Classification: Human

Powers: Mikasa is a “genetically modified” human possessing exceptional abilities like immense endurance, stamina, agility, durability, reflexes, and strength.

Apart from that, she is also smart and skilled in swordsmanship. The only weakness she has is her absolute devotion to her childhood friend Eren.

9. Gasai Yuno (Mirai Nikki)

Age: 14

Classification: Human, Goddess

Powers: Yuno has at her disposal a diary called Yukiteru’s Diary, which tells her everything about Yukiteru (her darling) in intervals of ten minutes. One might think that that’s not OP and she wouldn’t be qualified to be listed as one of the strongest female anime characters. But when her diary is combined with Yukiteru’s Random Diary predicting his surroundings, Yuno and Yukiteru make an almost unbeatable duo.

Yuno is a highly intelligent, smart, resourceful, and clever girl. Despite her childish looks, she demonstrates skill with multiple weapons, including knives, axes, swords, pistols, and even submachine guns. She is highly skilled in infiltration and knows drugs and poisons even though she doesn’t seem to use them often.

Yuno also possesses divine powers acquired from winning the first Diary Game.

8. Mavis Vermillion (Fairy Tail)

Age: 13 (biologically) 118 (chronologically)

Classification: Human (Mage)

Powers: Despite her childish looks, Mavis is a brilliant strategist, earning her the title “The Fairy Tactician”.

Mavis self-taught herself Illusion magic allowing her to create fearsome beasts or armies of knights in a life-like form.

She was also taught a type of black magic called Law, which envelops the area and inflicts heavy damage on the caster’s target.

After learning the Law, Mavis developed new magic called Fairy Law, which emits a bright light that envelops the area and inflicts heavy damage on whoever the caster perceives from their heart as an enemy, leaving friends and bystanders completely unharmed.

The next powerful spell created by Mavis is called Fairy Sphere. By converting the Fairy Tail member’s bonds and faith into Magic Power Mavis created the magic which can protect the guild from any evil; an absolute defense Magic.

Powers: The Diclonius is a newly evolved species, arising from and very similar to normal humans, but possessing psychokinetic abilities far beyond any human.

Lucy is capable of generating telekinesis projected invisible arms, which proved to have superhuman strength & speed, slicing people in half with ease even from distance or severing their limbs in seconds.

If that wasn’t enough, Lucy is also a Diclonius Queen with the ability to infect males with a virus that causes their future-born children to be also diclonius like her.

Age: 16 biologically (in reality around 600-700)

Classification: Former human

Powers: C.C. is an immortal “witch” incapable of dying by conventional means (like being shot to vital organs) or aging. This alone means that she deserves the place on the list of the strongest female anime characters.

The Code, her ultimate ability is granting her power to bestow the power of Geass upon people she chooses. The Geass manifests differently in each person but generally carries the ability to affect the minds of those it is used on in some way. For example, Lelouch’s Geass manifests itself as “the power of absolute obedience,” which allows him to plant commands within a person’s mind upon direct eye contact.

5. Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)

Age: 19

Classification: Human (Mage)

Powers: Erza is often portrayed as one of the strongest characters in Fairy Tail and with no doubt, she is a very strong wizard indeed. Erza is capable of performing a type of Spatial Magic called Requip: The Knight, allowing her to swap weapons, armor, and clothes at will extremely fast in combat. She is said to have over 100 different armors and 200+ Swords, Axes, Staffs, and other weapons at her disposal.

She is also capable of telekinesis. Other than that it’s worth mentioning that Erza has a high intellect, great reflexes, immense magic power, and amazing endurance, making her a powerful ally and feared enemy.

4. Tsunade Senju (Naruto)

Age: 50s

Classification: Human

Powers: You might underestimate Tsunade based on her looks, but she is one of three Legendary Sannins (the legendary ninja). Despite her youthful appearance, she is actually in her 50s, maintaining youthful looks thanks to the Transformation technique.

Tsunade is capable of enormous physical power and is also considered the greatest medical nin. She can identify ailments at a glance and treat conditions that other medical-nin deem impossible to cure. According to the databook stats, Tsunade scores a total of 35 out of 40, with a five in ninjutsu, taijutsu, intelligence, and strength proving how powerful is she even though we don’t get to see that much of her strength in the anime.

3. Misaka Mikoto (Toaru Kagaku No Railgun)

Age: 14

Classification: Human (Esper: Electromaster)

Powers: Mikoto is only a middle schooler, but she is already considered the third strongest out of 2.1 million people in Academy City, making her the ultimate, strongest Electromaster. As an electromaster, Mikoto is capable of generating and manipulating electricity. Her maximum output is known to be 1 billion volts.

She can also use electromagnetism to her advantage and can manipulate iron sand. Apart from that, she is immune to telepathy and drugs which would have normal effects on her body/ mind, has a radar sense and is also able to crack or hack anything, and has proven to be able to fly thanks to wings made of electricity and water vapor.

The most interesting part about Mikoto is that she explicitly claimed that her amazing powers were not a coincidence or a result of tremendous talent – she had to work hard for it!

Age: Unknown (probably around 16-17)

Classification: Human

Powers: Akame is an extremely skilled swordswoman and is often considered the strongest member of the Night Raid crew. Akame could be described as extremely skilled in swordsmanship & and hand-to-hand combat, agile, intelligent, and swift. She is portrayed as a character capable of slaying enemies with minimal effort.

Akame also carries One-Cut Killer: Murasame, a katana which is releasing poison after piercing the flesh, killing the victim within seconds as the poison doesn’t have an antidote.

1. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Naruto)

Age: 1000 + years old

Classification: Celestial being

Powers: Kaguya is immortal and able to quickly regenerate any lost anatomy or severed limbs. She is also capable of monstrous power presented both in manga and anime.

As the first person to ever wield chakra, she can absorb any technique she encounters and can also absorb the chakra of the enemy if physical contact is established, hence she never runs out of chakra and can use many unique techniques which are so powerful that she has almost no counterplay.

Nerf that. Definitely one of the strongest female anime characters if not the strongest.
